East Indians or East Indian Catholics are an ethno-religious Roman Catholic community, based in and around the city of Mumbai (formerly ''Bombay'') and North Konkan district (Thane) in the present state of Maharashtra, India.〔. Contents taken from (East-Indians –- History ) (PDF, 80 KB) article, has been borrowed mainly from Elsie Wilhelmina Baptista's above book.〕 These people are of the original small communities from the North Konkan regions mainly Kulbis (Kunbi), Samvedi Bramins, Kolis (fishermen), Wadvals (farmers), Agris (salt pan workers/owners) and Somavamshi Kshatriyas which had been evangelised by the Portuguese. ==History==
